Iran’s Pres. Raisi to Make Russia Visit in Early 2022

Alwaght- Presidebt Sayed Ebrahim Raisi of Iran is planned to make a visit to Moscow in early next year to discuss strategic relations between the two countries, said the Iranian government's spokesman Ali Bahadori Jahromi.

Speaking at a weekly press conference in Tehran on Tuesday, Jahromi said Russian President Vladimir Putin had invited his Iranian counterpart to travel to Moscow “in line with the continuation of strategic interactions”  between the two countries.

"President Raisi will probably pay a visit to Moscow early in the new year (2022) within the framework of strengthening international relations with the world, especially regional countries,” he added.

Promotion of bilateral ties would be a top agenda in the visit, he went on.

Kremlin: Tehran and Moscow preparing for highest-level contacts

Meanwhile, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov also told journalists on Tuesday that Moscow and Tehran were preparing “contacts at the highest level.”

In recent years, Moscow and Tehran managed to bolster relations in various fields. Moscow has on many occasions supported Iran’s stance on the right to develop peaceful nuclear program.

The two countries have also been involved a triumphant war against terrorism in Syria that helped Damascus take back much of its territories lost to foreign-backed terrorists in early stages of the conflict.

In a phone call with his Russian counterpart in September, President Raisi said Iran was determined to boost relations with Russia in all fields, including in the production of a joint vaccine to fight the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

“We are pursuing the development and deepening of cooperation between the two countries in all dimensions,” Raisi said back then, stressing the importance of continued bilateral cooperation on exploring ways to contain the coronavirus outbreak, including the production of a joint vaccine.
