Alwaght- Warning sirens for several times have been activated in numerous locations across the Israeli-occupied territories over the past 24 hours, in what comes as a harsh Palestinian response to the Tel Aviv regime’s recent attacks on al-Quds (Jerusalem) and the besieged Gaza Strip.
Israeli media confirmed on Saturday that Palestinian resistance movements had fired 36 rockets from the Gaza Strip toward the occupied territories overnight, activating warning sirens in various settlements in the early morning hours.
Declining to reveal the exact amount of damage inflicted on the Israelis, the regime’s media claimed that most of the rockets had struck “open areas” and six of the projectiles had been intercepted by the so-called Iron Dome missile defense system.
The rocket salvos came after Israeli attacks on Palestinian worshipers in the occupied Old City of al-Quds and the injury of scores of Palestinians in clashes with far-right and extremist Israeli settlers chanting “Death to Arabs” in their rally in the center of the occupied city.
The Palestinian Hamas resistance group held a series of protests in the Gaza Strip, which was met with violent attacks from Israeli forces and led to fierce clashes with extremist Jewish activists.
Addressing the protesters in Gaza, senior Hamas leader Mahmoud Zahar condemned the decision of some Arab states to normalize relations with Israel last year and said, “After a long series of protests and demonstrations, we have reached the conclusion that without weapons, we cannot liberate our land, protect our holy sites, bringing back our people to their land or maintain our dignity.”
Another Hamas official also condemned the Israeli attack as a "desperate attempt" to break the willpower of Palestinians and said, "Our people and our resistance are united with our people in al-Qudsin their fight against the Zionist occupation and in their defense of al-Aqsa Mosque."
Hamas’ armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, also vowed to defend al-Aqsa Mosque, al-Quds, and its people.
Addressing the people of al-Quds, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades said the Palestinians in
al-Quds had the solid support of the Gazans and stressed that the two shared the battle to liberate Palestine.
