Alwaght- Remaining signatories to Iran nuclear deal launched on Saturday a new round of talks in the Austrian capital of Vienna with the purpose of ensuring the United States’ return to the agreement and the lifting of its sanctions against Iran.
The Joint Commission to the JCPOA -- the nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action -- convened a day after Iran announced that it has started the production of 60-percent enriched uranium in the Natanz nuclear facility ehich came under a terrorist attack last week.
The Commission chaired by the European Union will resume its work in a physical format at 13.00 CET (1100 GMT), the EU said in a statement earlier on Saturday.
"Participants will take stock of the ongoing discussions on the prospect of a possible return of the United States to the JCPOA and how to ensure the full and effective implementation of the JCPOA by all sides," the statment said.
The Joint Commission will be chaired on behalf of EU High Representative Josep Borrell by the Deputy Secretary General/Political Director of the European External Action Service, Enrique Mora and it will be attended by representatives of China, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom and Iran, added the statement.
Iranian chief nuclear negotiator said on Thursday that Tehran does not seek protracted negotiations on the fate of the JCPOA, warning that the country would take action if the talks are not constructive.
“We are not after talks of attrition and the negotiations that are only time-consuming and aimed at [holding] talks for the sake of talks,” Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said.
