ALWAGHT- Iran’s army spokesman said the country’s armed forces could launch preemptive action in response to an emerging threat, following a shift in military doctrine toward a more offensive posture.
Iranian Army spokesman Brigadier General Amir Akraminia said the armed forces used the ceasefire following the 12-day war to update target information, improve equipment and incorporate new capabilities and lessons learned. He also claimed that US military bases in the region suffered significant damage, creating logistical and supply difficulties for American forces.
Akraminia said Iran’s assessment is that the US military currently faces an unfavorable situation in the region, including what he described as low morale among some personnel. He suggested Washington could seek to change the situation through further aggression, although he said the US lacks a clear strategy.
On Iran’s military doctrine, Akraminia said the armed forces have moved toward a preemptive approach following the war. He cited strikes against anti-Iran groups in Iraq’s Kurdistan region as an example, arguing that targeting potential threats before they could launch attacks constituted an application of the new strategy.
