ALWAGHT- The vessel was later identified as the Dive-LD, an unmanned underwater vehicle manufactured by US defence contractor Anduril Industries. The submersible is designed to operate at depths of up to 6,000 meters and can remain underwater for as long as 10 days.
The IRGC Navy said it had captured a US unmanned underwater vehicle near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz in what it described as a complex intelligence and military operation. The force said the vehicle was among the US military’s most advanced unmanned submarines.
Iranian media identified the vessel as the Dive-LD, an autonomous submersible developed by US company Anduril Industries and reportedly delivered to the US Navy in 2025. Iran also said the Army had shot down a US MQ-1 drone near Bandar Abbas earlier the same day.
The Dive-LD is about 5.8 meters long, weighs nearly three tonnes and can operate underwater for up to 10 days at depths of as much as 6,000 meters. Its modular design allows sensors and mission equipment to be rapidly changed for roles including intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and mine warfare.
