Alwaght- Evidence has emerged that the Saudi regime carried out a chemical attack in eastern Yemen.
Yemen’s army spokesman Sharaf Luqman said on Tuesday that Saudi warplanes have bombarded areas in Ma’rib Province using chemical and biological agents.
Speaking to Lebanon’s al-Mayadin TV, Luqman did not elaborate on further, but said the attacks have failed to assist “terrorists” and militants loyal to the fugitive former Yemeni president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, to retake territory in Ma’rib and advance toward the capital, Sanaa. The provincial capital city of Ma’rib is located about 195 kilometers (121 miles) east of the capital.
Riyadh has been seeking to take control of Sanaa from the Ansarullah movement. Reports broke out in the Saudi-run media outlets earlier in the day claiming that militants loyal to Hadi and Saudi Arabia have made inroads in Ma’rib.
The senior Yemeni military official also spoke refereed to “sleeper cells” in Sanaa, where he said a large amount of weapons and ammunition is stored. He said the cells are planning attacks on civilians and security forces to prepare the ground for the advance of anti-revolutionary forces into the city.
In late September, Amnesty International slammed the US and Britain for supporting Saudi aggression against Yemen, saying Riyadh is targeting and killing civilians in the Arab state by weapons produced in the US.
Riyadh’s aggression against Yemen, "backed by the USA and the UK," has brought about "the vast majority of civilian deaths and injuries,” said James Lynch, the group's deputy Middle East and North Africa director, on Friday, adding that Saudi Arabia has employed "banned cluster munitions, which ... have been found to be produced or designed in the USA.”
