Alwaght- Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif have called on all countries to make sincere efforts to uproot terrorism.
Assad and Zarif made the remarks during a meeting in Damascus where they also warned against rising terror threats in the Middle East.
They also reiterated that the growing wave of terrorism poses a threat to both regional states and other world countries while urging all sides to adopt realistic policies and help cut the support for terror groups.
During the meeting, President al-Assad relayed his congratulations to the Iranian people over the nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 group, pointing out that Iran reached this historic achievement thanks to the steadfastness of the Iranian people and their support for their leadership.
The two sides exchanged views on the best means to find a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria.
Zarif stressed that the Syrians’ will must be the compass of any ideas for resolving the crisis away from any foreign interference and in a way that preserves the Syrian territorial integrity and its independent decision.
A head of his trip to Syria, Zarif paid a two-day visit to the Lebanese capital, Beirut, where he held talks with senior officials of the Arab country, including Prime Minister Tammam Salam and Defense Minister Samir Moqbel as well as his counterpart, Gebran Bassil.
The top Iranian diplomat also held talks with Lebanon’s resistance movement, Hezbollah, leader Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah.
