Arab Regimes Gave $137 B in Aid to Militants in Syria: Deputy FM

Alwaght- Some Arab regimes have supported militants and terrorists with $137 billion in aid in a bid to ruin Syria, Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad said on Monday.

“Well-known Arab countries have provided aid amounting to $137 billion to illegal armed groups in order to destroy Syria,” Miqdad told reporters.

The senior diplomat added that that the country had managed to resist its enemies due to Syrians’ spirit and courage, as well as Russia’s support.

“Now we have to revive the country’s economy because this is the key factor which will allow Syrians to come back to their homeland,” Miqdad added.

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy it blames on some Western governments and their regional allies including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the Israeli regime. The foreign-sponsored conflict in Syria, which flared in March 2011, has so far claimed the lives of nearly half a million people, over one million injured and an estimated 12.5 million now displaced.
