ALWAGHT- The Federal Security Service of Russia announced it had prevented a Ukrainian-directed attack on a key natural gas pipeline in the Moscow region.
A Russian man was detained in the Serpukhov district while allegedly trying to plant an improvised explosive device near a gas pipeline, according to the FSB. Officers said they caught him as he was drilling into the ground to install the explosives.
The FSB claims the suspect was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence in 2024 while being held in Ukraine for immigration violations and later sent back to Russia under the cover of deportation. He was reportedly instructed to buy a car and tools and to collect the disguised explosive device from a hidden cache.
Russian authorities also cited other alleged Ukraine-linked plots this month, including a failed railway sabotage attempt and a poisoning plan targeting a senior defense official. Moscow says such incidents show Ukraine is increasingly resorting to sabotage and terrorism as the conflict continues.
