Story behind Taliban delegation visit to Tehran

Saturday 6 June 2015
Story behind Taliban delegation visit to Tehran
Alwaght_ In recent days, there was some news that surprised experts and public opinion. The news was that a Taliban delegation has made a trip to Tehran. After a while, the news was confirmed by officials on both sides. However, people were still surprised and wondered what the reason behind such a visit is. Why did a high-ranking delegation from the Afghan Taliban travel to Tehran? What are the objectives of the visit? And the most important question are: what was the necessity of this trip at this particular time, and what are the consequences of announcing the news? And for what purpose has the news been spread?
Using available information and with a deeper look at current regional developments, this note tries to provide proper answers to the above questions as much as possible.
If one explores some detailed analyses and expert evaluations of recent events in the West Asia, he finds that Takfiri movements, especially ISIS would soon open new fronts in eastern border of the country, namely Afghanistan and Pakistan. They give a variety of reasons, citing some information (both secret and non-secret) as well as the some analyses to confirm the accuracy of the claim. They believed in the near future, the Axis of Resistance should get ready to fight a new front of Takfiri in the eastern border of Iran. After a while (two to three months) these claims were proved right. According to some reliable news, the initial cores of ISIS are being developed in the northern parts of Afghanistan, and their first serious activities were terrorist attacks in northern Afghanistan carried out at the beginning of the new Iranian year, for which ISIS claimed responsibility.
It was more than enough for the Axis of Resistance to make plans for seriously addressing the ISIS on its eastern border. Therefore, in the first step, Iran began to hold talks with one of the coherent and effective forces in Afghanistan.
It should be noted that today Taliban is one of the undeniable realities of the social, political, and security arenas of Afghanistan, and a significant portion of the country is under the influence of this movement. Accordingly, based on the principle of establishing an alliance against a common enemy, the Axis of Resistance, the currents and groups such as the Taliban in Afghanistan and other countries should take measures and collaborate to deal with a serious issue called ISIS which is now threatening all governments and people of the region. The important point is that no group, race or religion will be completely immune from ISIS. As Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in his speech in May 16, said: “Takfiri project is now threatening countries, societies and the armies of the region. Believe me, the danger is unique in human history. Takfiri movements threaten all human societies other than their own. Let’s not get into theoretical or theological disputes; the experience of Iraq and Syria is before our eyes. Even ISIS and al-Nusra Front kill one another.” The Secretary General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah stressed that “Everyone in Lebanon or in the region who thinks that can save their life through silence, praise or giving them compliment, is dead wrong. ISIS in Iraq massacred the tribes which helped it to fight the Iraqi army because they refused to swear allegiance to ISIS."
Therefore, groups and movements such as the Taliban, which represents part of the people and geography of the region, must take the danger of ISIS serious so that they can survive and protect the region, and take practical and effective measures to address the threats.
Accordingly, in recent days, the news was released that Taliban in a conflict, killed a number of ISIS members in Afghanistan. We may conclude that Taliban, considering the above analysis, views ISIS a serious danger and has made his decision to deal with the issue. However, this decision would certainly incur some costs. As according to news reports, ISIS has recently conducted a mortar attack against Jalalabad, a city in eastern Afghanistan, and inflicted heavy casualties.
In brief, the visit that made the headline in recent weeks in the political circles, is the beginning of the new developments in the region and represents a serious attempt of the regional forces to deal with the ISIS, which is a dangerous Zionist-American conspiracy organized for the whole region.
