Iran Dismisses Recent E3 Claims Regarding its Peaceful Nuclear Program

ALWAGHT- Iran has dismissed recent accusations from three European nations regarding its peaceful nuclear program, warning of an appropriate response to any confrontational actions.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei rejected allegations from France, Germany, and the UK accusing Tehran of breaching the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA) and UNSC Resolution 2231. The accusations followed a report by the UN nuclear watchdog indicating Iran’s intensified uranium enrichment in response to a Western-backed resolution criticizing its cooperation with the IAEA. Baghaei defended Iran’s actions as within its rights under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and supervised by the IAEA.

Baghaei criticized the European countries for undermining the progress achieved during a recent IAEA Director General visit to Tehran, which he believed could have strengthened cooperation. Instead, he lamented the E3’s unconstructive stance and their resolution against Iran. Despite this, Iran reiterated its belief in constructive engagement based on mutual respect but warned it would respond appropriately to any confrontational actions.

Baghaei emphasized that the root cause of the current situation is the US withdrawal from the JCPOA and the failure of the European parties to fulfill their obligations under the deal. He called for the E3 to address the core issues of continuous breaches and the illegal policy of sanctions, urging a return to mutual adherence and constructive dialogue to resolve the impasse.

Iran’s UN envoy, Amir-Saeid Iravani, also dismissed Western accusations of non-compliance as hypocritical and urged the E3 to abandon their pressure campaign against Tehran. In a letter to the UN Security Council and Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Iravani called on the European parties to take genuine steps toward reviving the 2015 nuclear agreement instead of perpetuating the cycle of sanctions and confrontation.
