Iran's First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref, met with Turkmenistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, on the sidelines of the Third Caspian Sea Economic Conference. Aref emphasized Iran’s commitment to strengthening ties with neighboring countries, highlighting Turkmenistan’s strategic importance in this policy. He reiterated the Supreme Leader’s perspective that Iran and Turkmenistan share more than just geographical proximity but also deep cultural and civilizational bonds. Aref expressed optimism about the full implementation of agreements and memorandums reached during the Turkmen delegation’s visit to Iran.
Aref stressed the need to expand trade between the two nations, focusing on the private sector with government support. He also underlined the significance of cooperation in energy, transportation, transit, and tourism, emphasizing the Caspian Summit as a key opportunity to enhance regional economic relations. He noted that the conference in Tehran would explore ways to strengthen trade, economic, environmental, and investment ties among Caspian Sea nations. Additionally, he called for regular meetings of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan to facilitate long-term collaboration.
Deputy Prime Minister Geldimyradov conveyed warm greetings from Turkmenistan’s leadership and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Iran.
