ALWAGHT- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran and Doha have reached key decisions to strengthen ties and expand cooperation.
During a press conference with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Tehran, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation. He highlighted Iran’s commitment to fostering regional stability through good neighborliness, mutual respect, and constructive interaction. The two leaders also discussed the situation in Syria, with Pezeshkian reaffirming Iran’s support for Syria’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty. Additionally, he praised Qatar’s mediation efforts in Gaza, stressing the need for unified action among Islamic nations to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians.
Emir Sheikh Tamim expressed satisfaction with his visit, stating that it would contribute to strengthening the historical and brotherly relations between Iran and Qatar. He emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation, particularly in commercial and economic sectors, and underscored the need to follow up on recent Joint Economic Commission meetings to boost trade exchanges. The Qatari leader also acknowledged the challenges facing the region and affirmed that constructive dialogue is the best approach to resolving disputes.
Regarding Palestine, the emir reiterated Qatar’s commitment to mediating a ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid. He emphasized that successful mediation could lead to a lasting ceasefire, reconstruction efforts, and a comprehensive solution for Palestine. Sheikh Tamim expressed hope that diplomatic efforts would bring stability and prosperity to the region, reaffirming Qatar’s support for initiatives that promote peace, cooperation, and the protection of nations’ rights.
