Iran says it warned the US against interfering during its missile operation against Israel

ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran had warned the United States against any involvement during its retaliatory operation against Israel. He emphasized that any response from the Israeli regime or its allies would be met with an even harsher retaliation.

In a TV interview on Wednesday, hours after Iran launched a barrage of long-range ballistic missiles at the occupied Palestinian territories—90% of which hit their targets—Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran had warned the US against any interference. This followed a statement from US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, affirming the Biden administration’s unwavering support for Israel’s security.

Iran’s missile strike, known as ‘Operation True Promise II,’ was in retaliation for the assassinations of resistance leaders Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, Ismail Haniyeh, and senior IRGC commander Abbas Nilforoushan by the Zionist regime. Araghchi revealed that a warning was sent through Switzerland to the US, asserting that the missile strike was a defensive action and that Iran had no intention of further escalation. However, the US was warned to not intervene.

The foreign minister described the missile attack as a "stabilizing measure" intended to restore geopolitical deterrence in the region amidst growing tensions. He emphasized that Iran’s Armed Forces were prepared for any Israeli or allied actions and warned that any retaliation would provoke a stronger response from Tehran. Despite the potential for conflict, Araghchi expressed hope for regional stability, noting that Iran had specifically avoided targeting civilians.

Araghchi also spoke with his counterparts from Germany, France, and the UK, underscoring that Iran had shown restraint for two months following the Israeli assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. He emphasized that Iran’s actions were in line with its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, targeting only military and security bases of the Zionist regime.

He reiterated that while the operation had concluded, any Israeli retaliation would result in an even harsher response. Araghchi also urged other nations to help de-escalate tensions in the region, particularly in Lebanon and Gaza, and warned third parties not to interfere in the conflict.
