ALWAGHT- A senior adviser to Iran’s Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, has urged the UAE to avoid confrontation with Tehran, particularly over Iran’s claim to three Persian Gulf islands. He argued that the UAE lacks Iran’s historical depth and military capabilities.
Ali Akbar Velayati rejected the UAE’s claims at the UN over Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa, asserting that Iran’s sovereignty over the three islands is permanent. He cited historical documents and maps as supporting Iran’s position.
Velayati also urged the UAE to avoid relying on foreign powers for security and instead strengthen relations with neighboring countries. He argued that foreign-backed security arrangements are temporary.
His remarks followed reports of an Israeli leadership visit to the UAE amid heightened regional tensions. Velayati criticized the UAE’s normalization with Israel, saying the visit contradicted its stated support for Arab and Muslim interests.
