ALWAGHT- Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf says Iran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz unless Washington acknowledges what Tehran describes as its rights and fulfills its stated requirements for bringing the conflict to an end.
Ghalibaf said Iran has conveyed its conditions through mediators and that the country will not return to the previous negotiating framework or reopen the Strait of Hormuz until its stated conditions are met and its rights are recognized.
Iran restricted transit through the strategic waterway following what Tehran describes as US-Israeli aggression. Ghalibaf said subsequent US military actions and a naval blockade led Iran to declare the strait closed to all traffic.
He outlined Iran’s strategy as combining military strength with diplomacy, arguing that Tehran should use its capabilities when necessary and pursue negotiations when conditions are favorable to consolidate gains and strengthen national power.
Ghalibaf also rejected what he described as two opposing approaches—war and surrender—saying both could undermine national unity. He further argued that the previous US-led regional order had collapsed and that Muslim countries should play a greater role in shaping a new regional order.
