ALWAGHT- Yemen orders UAE troops out within 24 hours, imposes state of emergency over Hadhramout tensions.
Rashad al-Alimi, head of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, issued a decree ordering the UAE to withdraw all military forces from Yemen within 24 hours and canceling the joint defense agreement. The order directs National Shield Forces to take control of military camps in Hadhramout and al-Mahra and declares a nationwide state of emergency for 90 days.
The decree also imposes a 72-hour air, sea, and land blockade on all ports and border crossings, with limited exceptions approved by the Saudi-led coalition. Local forces are instructed to coordinate with coalition command, avoid clashes, return to original positions, and hand over military sites, while provincial governors assume full administrative authority during the transition.
Tensions escalated as the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) accused Saudi Arabia of striking civilian infrastructure, following coalition airstrikes at the Port of Mukalla. The coalition said the strikes targeted weapons shipments arriving from the UAE for STC forces, amid growing rivalry between Saudi-backed factions and separatists.
The crisis follows recent STC military advances across southern and eastern Yemen, including seizures of oil facilities in Hadhramout and clashes with local tribal forces. Despite regional pressure, the STC has rejected withdrawal calls and discussed parallel governance, signaling a renewed push toward de facto separation.
