Al-Qassam Reaffirms Commitment to Ceasefire, Denies Involvement in Rafah Attacks

ALWAGHT- The Al-Qassam Brigades reiterated their commitment to the Gaza ceasefire, denying any involvement or awareness of the Rafah operations, citing a loss of communication.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, reaffirmed their full commitment to upholding the Gaza ceasefire, denying any involvement or awareness of recent incidents in Rafah. The group emphasized that Rafah and its surrounding areas are entirely under Israeli control, making it impossible for them to operate or have knowledge of events there.

In their statement, Al-Qassam explained that communication with their remaining units in Rafah has been completely severed since the war resumed in March 2025. They stated that they have no information on whether those fighters are still alive, stressing that the group has no connection to any current incidents or operations in that region.

Israeli media reported that two soldiers were killed and two others injured in Rafah in what was described as a “security incident” involving sniper fire and an explosive device. In response, Israeli forces launched heavy air and artillery strikes on multiple targets in the city, escalating tensions despite the declared truce.

Gaza authorities accused Israel of repeatedly violating the ceasefire, documenting 47 breaches since its announcement earlier in the week. The attacks have killed 38 Palestinians and wounded 143 others. The US-, Egypt-, Qatar-, and Turkey-brokered agreement was meant to end hostilities and enable humanitarian relief, but ongoing Israeli aggression has placed the fragile truce in jeopardy.
