ALWAGHT- An Israeli soldier was killed after a Palestinian carried out a retaliatory car-ramming attack in the northern West Bank, amid rising tensions between Israeli forces and Palestinians in the occupied territory.
The Israeli military reported that the incident occurred Sunday evening at Jit Junction in the northern West Bank, where a Palestinian driver accelerated a truck toward Israeli troops. Staff Sergeant Inbar Avraham Kav, 20, from the Paratroopers Brigade, was critically injured and later died in hospital after sustaining a severe head wound. Israeli forces also opened fire on the Palestinian man, identified as a resident of Nablus.
Hamas described the car-ramming attack as a response to Israel’s ongoing war against Palestinians in Gaza, calling it a reflection of their people's resistance to annexation and settlement expansion. The group condemned Israeli settler attacks and military incursions in the West Bank, warning that such actions will fuel public anger and further resistance.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli military operations and settler violence have intensified across the West Bank following the war on Gaza, resulting in hundreds of Palestinian deaths and thousands of injuries. More than 700,000 Israelis live in over 230 settlements considered unlawful under international law, established since Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and East al-Quds in 1967.
