Iran Vows Strong Response Over Enforced Illegal Resolutions – Qalibaf

ALWAGHT- Tehran warned it will respond forcefully and reciprocally to any effort to act against Iran under the snapback mechanism, according to the Parliament speaker.

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned that any country acting on the illegally re-imposed UN Security Council resolutions against Iran will face a reciprocal response. He said the US, UK, France, and Germany had no legal basis to invoke the snapback mechanism, and noted that Russia and China have also declared such measures invalid and non-binding.

Qalibaf stressed that Iran’s right to uranium enrichment remains recognized under international law and argued that the UN sanctions are less impactful than the unilateral US sanctions already in place since Washington’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal. He added that enforcing the disputed resolutions faces serious legal hurdles at the United Nations.

The remarks came after the E3 triggered the snapback process, restoring UN bans on Iran’s arms deals, missile program, and overseas assets. Tehran dismissed the move as illegitimate, accusing the Europeans of siding with Washington instead of honoring their commitments under the nuclear deal.
