Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto told world leaders at the UN General Assembly that the United States is subjecting Venezuela to an “illegal and immoral military threat.” He warned that Washington’s military buildup in the region could destabilize Latin America and the Caribbean.
Pinto accused the US of preparing for a potential attack under the pretext of defending its interests, aiming to gain control over Venezuela’s vast oil and gas resources. He also denounced what he called “vulgar and perverse lies” used to justify a multibillion-dollar military threat against the country.
The diplomat expressed gratitude to nations and peoples speaking out against US aggression, while reports indicate that Washington has deployed warships and F-35 fighter jets near Venezuela under the guise of anti-drug operations, signaling a potential escalation in tensions.
