ALWAGHT- During the Shanghai Cooperation Organization ministerial gathering in China, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with President Xi Jinping in Beijing.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi traveled to China to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting. Upon arrival in Beijing, he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and highlighted the SCO’s growing role as a global organization addressing political, economic, and security issues beyond its regional origins.
Araghchi explained that the upcoming ministerial meeting will focus on strategies to advance cooperation in energy and trade among member states, as well as discuss recent international developments. He also plans to hold bilateral talks with Chinese, Russian, and other SCO officials on the sidelines of the event.
Addressing recent Israeli and US attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Araghchi noted widespread condemnation from over 120 countries and many international and regional organizations. The SCO meeting, scheduled for July 15 in Tianjin, aims to strengthen collaboration among members and prepare for the forthcoming SCO summit.
