Alwaght- Iraqi armed forces supported by volunteer forces liberated four more villages near the northern city of Mosul on Saturday.
The army’s 16th Infantry Division recaptured the village of Gara Tepe, and hoisted the Iraqi national flag over a number of buildings there, the commander of Nineveh Liberation Operation, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Yarallah, said in a press statement.
Yarallah added that Iraqi government forces inflicted heavy losses on ISIS during clashes with the terrorists group.
The villages of Kuri Ghariban, al-Darawish and Abu Jarbouah north of Mosul were also liberated during the latest round of attacks by the Iraqi army on ISIS-controlled areas.
Moreover, Iraqi Special Operations Forces managed to liberate al-Kafa'at neighborhood in the eastern quarter of Mosul on Saturday.
Iraqi Federal Police also announced that security forces had foiled an infiltration attempt by ISIS terrorists into the village of Azbah south of Mosul.
Iraqi Army launched a comprehensive operation back in October to liberate the northern city of Mosul from ISIS terrorist group as the last stronghold of the group in Iraq.
