Fugitive Yemeni ex-president arrives in Riyadh

Alwaght- Yemen's fugitive resigned president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi has arrived in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, as the Saudi regime pushes ahead with its airstrikes against the homeland of the fugitive president.

Hadi arrived at Riyadh Airbase on Thursday, and was welcomed by Saudi Defense Minister Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and General Intelligence Chief Khalid bin Ali al-Humaidan, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

No further details were made available about the nature of the visit.

There are reports that Hadi would represent his country at the 26th Arab League summit, which will be held in Egypt's Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on March 28 and 29.

Hadi’s visit to neighboring Saudi Arabia coincides with Riyadh's military campaign against Yemen.

Saudi airstrikes against the impoverished Arab country have drawn condemnation from many countries, including Iran, Iraq, Russia and Syria, as well as the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah.

The ongoing Saudi airstrikes on Yemen have so far claimed the lives of at least 18 civilians with more deaths feared, according to Yemeni sources.

On Thursday morning, forces loyal to Hadi seized control of the international airport in the southern port city of Aden.

Troops of the 39th Armored Brigade, who are allied to the Ansarullah movement, had earlier seized the facility.

Later in the day, Saudi military aircraft resumed bombarding other areas in northern and southern Yemen.

The attacks struck arms depots in the Malaheez region in the northwestern city of Sa’ada, located 240 kilometers (150 miles) north of the capital, Sana’a, as well as the al-Tariq airbase in the southwestern city of Ta’izz, situated about 390 kilometers (240 miles) south of the capital.
