Alwaght- Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) managed to take control of the main road used by ISIS terrorists in Mosul.
Speaking to the reports on Monday, Hadi al-Ameri, Secretary General of Badr Organization said “here is Adaia village. It is located on the road between Tal Abtah and Tal al-Zalt which is the last road leading to the Syrian city of Raqqa.”
“It is also the last road connecting Raqqa to Mosul in Iraq,” he added.
He further said the road is completely under the control of his forces while some PMF units also managed to capture the strategically important village of Tal al-Zalt and al-Massaied.
The strategic mountainous regions near the road are also under complete control of the PMF’s Ali Akbar and al-Qoaida battalion, the commander further elaborated.
“The situation puts us in control of a three way conjunction that lets us to access both Tal Afar and Mosul”, Ameri said.
The PMF units under the command of Ameri are set to liberate the western regions around Mosul and put the ISIS terrorists under siege in these districts.
The Iraqi army along with volunteer forces and Peshmerga has launched a comprehensive operation to liberate Mosul from ISIS, on 17 October. The forces have closed in on the mainland of the Mosul while some units of the Special Forces have entered the city itself.
The city is considered the last stronghold for ISIS and liberating it could mean a victory over the terrorist group in Iraq.
