Several bomb explosions hit the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, killing at least 10 people, local security and medical sources said.

Alwaght- Several bomb explosions hit the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Saturday , killing at least 10 people, local security and medical sources said.

The explosions hit residential areas around Baghdad where also 37 people were injured according to the same sources.

The first bomb went off in a market place in Sheikh Omar, central Baghdad, killing three Iraqis and injuring nine others.

Other explosions also happened in Baghdad's southern al-Obaidi and al-Rashid neighborhoods as well as in the town of Abu Ghraib, located some 25 kilometers west of Baghdad.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks but the ISIS terrorist group has been known for carrying out such attack on Iraqi people.

The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) says a total of 1,792 Iraqis were killed and 1,358 others injured in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in October.

According to the UN mission, the number of civilian fatalities stood at 1,120. Violence also claimed the lives of 672 members of the Iraqi security forces. A great portion of the fatalities was recorded in the capital province of Baghdad, where 268 civilians were killed.

The violence come at a time when Iraqi national army and volunteer forces have launches a comprehensive operation to liberate the northern city of Mosul that fell to the ISIS in 2014 and is considered the group’s last stronghold in the country.
