Syrians Hold Demo against Al-Nusra

Alwaght-People have taken to the streets in Syria’s northwestern city of Idlib to protest against the al-Nusra Front terrorist group that has been fighting the Syrian government, as Press TV reported .

The demonstrators, who were mainly youth, took part in the march on Friday to call on the al-Qaeda-linked militant group to leave the region immediately .

The protesters also called for the release of several activists detained by the terrorists .

The rally came one day after Syria’s ambassador to the United Nations accused the West and certain regional countries of supporting terrorist groups operating in the Arab country .

In an address to the UN Security Council on February 26, Bashar Ja'afari further warned that the humanitarian situation in Syria would worsen .

The violence, fueled by Takfiri groups, has so far claimed the lives of over 210,000 people, latest reports show .

Over 3.8 million Syrians have left their country since the beginning of the crisis.  More than 7.2 million Syrians have also become internally displaced, according to the UN .

The US and its regional allies, including Turkey, Saudi and Qatar, have supported the terrorist groups operating against the government of President Bashar al-Assad in Syria .
