ALWAGHT- The murder of Palestinian journalist Hassan Eslaih at Nasser Hospital highlights Israel's ongoing attacks on the press, igniting worldwide condemnation and calls for immediate accountability.
On Tuesday morning, Israeli forces bombed the burn unit of Nasser Medical Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, killing several Palestinians, including journalist Hassan Eslaih. Eslaih had been recovering from injuries sustained in a previous Israeli airstrike targeting a journalists' tent. His death highlights the increasing risks faced by journalists in Gaza, underlining the ongoing targeting of media professionals.
The Government Media Office in Gaza reported that Eslaih’s death brings the total number of journalists killed since the start of the Israeli offensive to 215. The office condemned Israel’s deliberate targeting of media workers and called on international organizations to condemn these escalating violations. Hamas also denounced the attack, calling it a cowardly act and a continuation of Israeli atrocities against Palestinians.
Amid these attacks, the violence continues to escalate in Gaza. At least 42 Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours, with heavy bombing across southern Gaza, including an airstrike on Khan Younis. Israeli warplanes and military drones continued their relentless assault, adding to the mounting casualties and destruction in the region.
