Alwaght- Over the last few weeks, ISIS Takfiris have been defeated in every front in Iraq. From Mosul to the north to Anbar to the west and Diyala to the east, Iraqi army backed by the Popular Mobilizations forces and Kurdish Peshmerga was all victorious in the battle.
Under the effect of the strikes of the Iraqi army backed by the Popular Mobilizations forces, ISIS has lost its momentum in Iraq and lost some of the cities and towns that it captured in June 2014. It still controls the provincial capitals Mosul and Tikrit as well as the city of Fallujah west of Baghdad, and many other small towns throughout.
So far, the ISIS defeats are significant. The Iraqi army also liberated several areas in Nbaei, northern Baghdad, after expelling ISIL terrorists whose leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi used to reside in the mentioned town.
Moreover, ISIS was pummeled and Kurdish Peshmerga forces retook an area near the Mosul dam, liberating seven villages. ISIS has left more than 200 bodies of its fighters in the field.
In Diyala province northeast of Baghdad, ISIS had already lost most of the province. ISIS established three defensive lines to prevent the Iraqi government troops and Popular Mobilizations forces from any further advance. The Popular Mobilizations forces infiltrated ISIS and discovered the exact locations of these lines. A heavy artillery shelling followed and the lines were destroyed. ISIS fighters ran away to nearby farms.
According to a document obtained by Iraqi security forces, commanders are ordered to kill those wounded during battles as the group faces a shortage of medical supplies in its stronghold in Mosul.
Iraqi Interior Minister Mohammed Salem al-Ghabban pointed out that ISIS is at the edge of a psychological defeat, and said: “ISIS have executed 1000 of its own militants, whose loyalty to ISIS was doubted.”
In an official statement a copy of which has been published on the Iraqi Interior Ministry’s website, Mohammed Salem al-Ghabban said that the Iraqi troops and the Popular Mobilizations’ successive victories have caused the terrorists a psychotic breakdown. As well as, the military forces and Popular Mobilizations are determined to purge Iraq from terrorism.
Mohammed Salem al-Ghabban emphasized: “Salah al-Din liberation operations in the upcoming days, will be the beginning of a major military operation to liberate the city of Mosul and ISIS formation with these executions show that they have entered a mental breakdown phase.
It is worth noting that last Friday night, military operations to clear occupied areas in Iraq’s Salah al-Din have reached an operational stage. The military operations will continue advancing toward North-Western region, where terrorist militants are located, after the liberation of “Sayyed” region located in the west.
ISIS has suffered huge blows over the past weeks as the Iraqi army, backed by the Popular Mobilizations forces, continues to retake key areas in the country’s central and Western parts. These defeats on several fronts have pushed ISIS to carry brutal executions and bombing attacks. For example, ISIS terrorist group members have burned to death sixteen people in Iraq’s violence-ridden northern city of Mosul for not pledging allegiance to their alleged caliphate. Attacks in Baghdad including a suicide bombing inside a restaurant killed 27 people on Saturday, officials said. Another attack said to have been either a suicide or roadside bombing, hit a commercial area in central Baghdad, killing at least five people and wounding at least 13.
