Iran’s General Soleimani to Rescue Iraq from ISIS Terrorists: Italian Paper

Alwaght- An Italian daily says Iran's General Qassem Soleimani will eventually rescue Iraq from the clutches of ISIS terrorist group.

In a report titled, "Soleimani will Rescue Iraq from the Clutches of ISIS", il Giornale an Italian language daily newspaper quotes Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, an Iraqi military commander who heads the Popular Mobilization Forces as saying,  "General Soleimani is in Iraq following a request by the country's government and an advisor to the country's army.

The Italian newspaper quoted al-Muhandis as saying: "Iranian advisors, under the command of our dear brother, Qassem Soleimani, have been with us since the beginning of the war. He is present in Iraq following a request by the government and approval of the (Iraqi) armed forces command." The senior Iraqi commander pointed out that, Iraq has the capability to defeat ISIS terrorist group adding that the Popular Mobilization Forces has no post-war demands and that it will support the political process.

Last month, Sayyid Hamid Husseini, a senior official of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces also known as al-Hashd al-Shaabi,  reiterated on the important role played by Iran and General Soleimani in liberating large parts of the country from ISIS terrorists.

"We had been besieged and had lost everything but this brave commander (General Soleimani) came to assist us. I declare openly that, if the Islamic Republic of Iran and its Leader had not assisted us, today there would be nor Iraq," he added.

The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, which works closely with Iranian military advisors, was formed in 2014 and is composed of citizens from different walks of life volunteering to defend their country.

Late May, Iran's Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying, “The presence of Iran’s military advisers in Iraq under the command of General Qassem Soleimani is at the request of the country’s legitimate government in order to fight terrorists and extremists who have beset Iraq and the region with instability and insecurity”.

The Italian journal notes that the US has had a minimal role in the ongoing battle to eject ISIS terrorists from Fallujah, adding that the Iranian general is leading the operation to liberate the strategic city.

The daily quotes General Soleimani as saying in March that, "The fire of terrorism had consumed our Sunni brothers' houses. Iran will never give in to Takfiri terrorists groups and the Islamic Republic of Iran will endure sacrifices to defend Muslims." He added that the Islamic Republic has decided to confront those who destroy mosques and other sites holy to Muslims.
