Alwaght- From stones to knives and now guns, the Third Palestinian Intifada is evolving as Palestinians have been forced to upgrade their weapon of choice in confronting the Israeli regime.
On Wednesday night, at least four Zionists were killed in a shooting in Tel Aviv near the Israeli regime’s War Ministry.
Having been absent from the news for a while, the Palestinians made a big come back to tell the Israelis that the Third Intifada is alive and thriving. This seems to have disconcerted the Israelis who are beginning to realize that security in the occupied territories will never be as they wish it to be. Even Tel Aviv, the Israeli stronghold, is not secure for the Zionist occupiers because Palestinians have vowed to liberate their land in whatever means possible.
To this end, the Israelis continue to increase their military arsenal.
U.S. National Security Adviser Susan Rice promised the Israeli regime on Monday that the new military aid agreement between the two sides will constitute “the single largest military assistance package — with any country — in American history.”
Addressing the American Jewish Committee Global Forum in Washington, Rice said the new decade-long aid package will “constitute a significant increase in support,” providing funding to update the Israeli aircraft fleet and strengthen missile defenses.
However, ever since its inception the Israeli regime has had the advantage of possessing the greater military power in terms of equipment and weaponry. This has not stopped Palestinians nor has it made Israeli Occupation Forces winners in the battlefield. That’s why this package is not expected to do away with the problems the Israelis face. The Palestinians remain a thorn in their side.
In July 2014, a wave of operations struck al-Quds (Jerusalem), in what was dubbed the Third Intifada or the Silent Intifada. Just when the Israelis thought that Palestinians in the occupied territories were not going to act on their accumulating anger, they were proved wrong.
The wave of stabbing operations was a result of spontaneous combustion within the Palestinian territories where rage and frustration were exacerbated by the latest war on Gaza, the continuing illegal settlement expansion policy, the failure of the so-called peace talks, and the persistent desecration of the holy al-Aqsa mosque.
Tel Aviv crackdown on Palestinians including arbitrary detention and demolition of homes were not enough to deter the movement. Attempts to stifle the Palestinians have been fierce but have not been able to weaken their resolve. Against all odds the Intifada has had sequels and it appears that it will continue into the future until the Palestinians finally get their rights back.
Palestinians have been using different kinds of weapons against the Israelis, from kitchen utensils to the rocks of their land. After two Palestinians opened fire on Wednesday, the Israelis have become fearful that the Intifada will mushroom and perhaps repeat earlier scenes of the uprising. At the same time, the more the Israeli occupation forces and their regime pile pressure on the Palestinians, the more the Palestinians will be inspired to revolt and defend their existence, whatever the cost may be.
