Alwaght- One Russian helicopter crashed in Syria in which two military pilots were killed near the central Syrian city of Homs, the defense ministry said on Tuesday, adding that the aircraft had not been under fire.
"Two crew members died," the defense ministry said in a statement.
The ministry added the crash of the Mi-28 attack helicopter happened in the early hours of Tuesday, and the bodies had been recovered and brought to Russia's Hmeimim air base.
"According to a report from the crash site, the helicopter was not fired at," the defense ministry stated, saying experts were looking into the reasons of the accident.
Taking the chopper crash on Tuesday into account, Russia's official combat death toll in Syria reaches to seven.
On March, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow would withdraw the main part of its forces from its airbase in Latakiya, ending the anti-terrorism operation which was launched last September.
However Syria says it was no surprised by Russia's withdrawal of its forces the country and that the move is positive.
