Alwaght-Saudi regime forces have killed two innocent Shiite civilians in Al-Awamiyyah village, Eastern Province of Qatif.
Ali Mahmoud Ali Abdullah, a Bahriani Shiite Muslim was among those protesting the January execution of Islamic scholar, Sheikh Nimr Baqir al Nimr in the restive region.
The interior ministry spokesman claimed that when officers raided a farm in Awamiyah the suspect "opened fire and the situation was responded to, resulting in his death."
Local activists and people have rejected the ministry's version of events, saying that Abdullah did not have any weapons.
The sounds of gunfire could still be heard in Awamiyah on Tuesday evening.
Witnesses reported black smoke hanging over the town from tires burned in the streets by residents. The witness also reported seeing the body of a second individual lying in the street.
"People said an armored vehicle hit him," the witness said.
Earlier in the day, video shot by local residents showing a large convoy of armoured security vehicles emerged on social media.
Qatif has been the focal point of unrest among Saudi Arabia's Shiites Muslims since protests in early 2011 calling for an end to discrimination and for democratic reforms in the monarchy ruled by the minority Al Saud clan.
Sheikh Nimr was a vocal supporter of the mass pro-democracy protests against Riyadh, which erupted in Eastern Province, where a Shiite majority has long complained of marginalization.
