ALWAGHT- Iran's Araghchi blames US dishonesty and repeated betrayals for deadlock in Pakistan-mediated negotiations.
In a phone call with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi briefed him on the diplomatic process to end the war imposed on Iran and identified America's bad faith—including repeated betrayals of commitments, military aggression, contradictory positions, and maximalist demands—as the primary obstacle disrupting Pakistan-mediated negotiations with the US. Despite profound distrust toward Washington, Araghchi affirmed that Iran has entered the process seriously and responsibly to seek a reasonable and just outcome. Guterres rejected the use of force against state sovereignty, emphasized adherence to the UN Charter, and stressed the need for diplomacy to achieve regional peace. The two also discussed the ongoing NPT Review Conference in New York.
