ALWAGHT- Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has cautioned that any US-led conflict could escalate into a broader regional struggle.
Speaking at a gathering in Tehran on Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei addressed recent US threats against Iran. He stated that American talk of war, including aircraft and warships, is not new, with the US previously making similar threats and claiming all options were on the table. He also criticized President Trump for his claims about military deployments.
The Leader emphasized that Iran will defend itself against any aggression but does not seek conflict with other countries. If the US initiates a war, it would result in a regional conflict, according to Ayatollah Khamenei.
He also highlighted Iran's valuable assets, including oil, gas, mines, and strategic location, which attract covetous powers seeking dominance over the country. For over thirty years, the US controlled Iran's resources, politics, security, and foreign relations but has now been cut off from influence. The Leader expressed confidence that the Iranian people will thwart any malicious intentions and hostile measures aimed at the country.
Ayatollah Khamenei attributed recent unrest in Iran to a foreign-backed plot with US and Israeli roots, involving trained and funded participants. He stressed public rallies as proof of popular support for the Islamic Republic and rejected Western claims about human rights as pretexts.
The Leader described hostility towards Iran as stemming from its independent path and resistance to global powers, warning that similar plots may recur. Security is essential for progress, he said, crediting public participation with neutralizing unrest. Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that the Iranian nation will remain steadfast in deterring any aggression.
