ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says Tehran is open to any dialogue that could enhance its relations with Lebanon, emphasizing that Iran does not involve itself in Lebanon’s internal affairs.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded to an invitation from his Lebanese counterpart, Youssef Rajji, saying he welcomes direct dialogue to strengthen bilateral relations. He emphasized that Iran does not interfere in Lebanon’s internal affairs and stressed that no mediator is needed, expressing readiness to visit Beirut and inviting Rajji to Tehran.
Iranian officials have repeatedly reiterated this stance. In August, Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, reaffirmed Iran’s consistent support for Lebanon’s government and people while rejecting claims of interference. He urged Lebanese leaders to distinguish clearly between allies and adversaries.
These statements come amid rising external pressure on Lebanon. In August, the Lebanese government—acting under significant US and Israeli influence—ordered the army to prepare a plan to disarm Hezbollah by year’s end, a move widely viewed as a potential threat to the country’s security and political balance.
