Iran Limits Missile Range to Below 2,000 km, Foreign Minister Says

ALWAGHT- Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran has deliberately limited the range of its missiles to under 2,000 kilometers, rejecting claims that Tehran is developing long-range weapons capable of reaching the United States.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the remarks in an interview with India Today aired Wednesday, shortly before traveling to Geneva for renewed nuclear talks with the United States. He said US policy toward Iran, including under President Donald Trump, has been shaped by misunderstanding and outside influence rather than direct engagement with Iranian society.

Araghchi linked current tensions to the 1979 Islamic Revolution, saying Iran has faced decades of hostility through coups, war, sanctions, and “maximum pressure,” all of which he said have failed. He argued that US perceptions of Iran are driven by misinformation, largely promoted by Israeli lobbying efforts rather than factual knowledge of the Iranian people.

He added that Iran remains open to improved relations if Washington changes its approach and engages respectfully. Araghchi also rejected claims that Iran is developing missiles capable of reaching the US, calling them fake news, and said Tehran has deliberately capped missile range below 2,000 kilometers for defensive and deterrent purposes, accusing Israel of being the primary source of regional instability.
