ALWAGHT- Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said in an interview on Monday that he and past leaders of the Lebanese resistance regard the Leader of the Islamic Revolution as a role model.
Sheikh Naim Qassem said the funeral procession held last year for former Hezbollah leaders Hassan Nasrallah and Hashem Safieddine sent a clear political message that the resistance remains alive through its leadership, fighters, and popular base. He made the remarks in an interview with Alahed News marking the anniversary of their martyrdom.
Qassem said he maintained close personal ties with the former resistance leaders and noted that they all operated under the guidance of Ruhollah Khomeini and, after his death, under the leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei. He stressed that this leadership framework shaped the continuity and direction of the resistance.
He added that the funeral ceremonies represented a renewed pledge to continue the path of resistance, restore its strength, and reinforce public solidarity around it. Qassem described leading Hezbollah and the Islamic Resistance as a heavy responsibility, emphasizing the commitment to carry forward the legacy of the martyred leaders.
