ALWAGHT- Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson says Iran will accept only an agreement that fully safeguards the nation’s rights and interests.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said any potential agreement must be balanced, rooted in mutual respect, and fully safeguard Iran’s national rights and interests, particularly regarding the nuclear issue and the lifting of sanctions. He rejected negotiations based on pressure, threats, or preconceived demands, stressing that Iran will only accept a deal that guarantees dignity, independence, and sovereignty.
Baghaei dismissed US rhetoric implying Iran should submit to a proposed agreement, saying “surrender” has no place in Iranian culture and that negotiations framed by coercion cannot succeed. He reaffirmed Iran’s position that its nuclear program is peaceful and noted that indirect talks with the US have focused on nuclear matters and sanctions relief, despite ongoing US military threats in the region.
He also addressed related issues, warning that any US attack, regardless of scale, would be considered aggression with consequences. Baghaei said Iran has fully complied with its inspection commitments to the IAEA and warned that EU member states’ security presence in the Persian Gulf would be viewed as terrorist following the EU’s designation of Iran’s IRGC, which Tehran called unlawful and unjustified.
