ALWAGHT- Reports indicate that Israeli forces carried out multiple incursions into southern Syria near the occupied Golan Heights, establishing checkpoints and detaining three locals.
Israeli forces carried out multiple incursions into southern Syria on Saturday, including patrols near Madinat al-Salam and Suwaysah village in Quneitra governorate. Reconnaissance drones were reported flying over northern Quneitra, while no immediate arrests or searches were recorded during some of these operations.
Earlier in the day, Israeli troops detained three young men in Jamlah village in the Yarmouk Basin area of southwestern Daraa, setting up a temporary checkpoint and remaining in the village for about an hour before withdrawing toward the occupied Golan Heights. Similar search and raid operations were reported in Ain Zaiwan and Ain al-Abd villages.
Syria condemned these incursions, which violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, international law, and UN Security Council resolutions, and urged the international community to respond firmly. Analysts note that Israel’s frequent operations, including establishing at least nine military zones in southern Syria, are justified by Tel Aviv as countering Takfiri threats.
However, experts argue that these deployments are part of a broader strategy of territorial expansion, using military actions and settler incursions. The Syrian regime’s inaction and efforts toward normalization with Israel have reportedly encouraged Israeli forces to intensify their occupation campaign in the region.
