A Massive Crowd Gathers in Beirut for The Funeral of Martyred Hezbollah Leaders

ALWAGHT- Huge crowds from across Lebanon and around the world are gathering in Beirut for the historic funeral procession of martyred Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah and former Executive Council head Seyyed Hashem Safieddine.

Despite the cold weather, massive crowds are making their way to Beirut for the funeral of Hezbollah leaders Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah and Seyyed Hashem Safieddine, causing heavy traffic on major roads. Mourners, including women, children, and the elderly, are carrying photos of the martyrs and banners with Nasrallah’s quotes. Security forces have been deployed to maintain order as the Hezbollah-affiliated al-Manar TV reports that multiple screens have been set up at Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium for attendees to follow the event.

The funeral, set to begin at 1:00 PM local time, will start with a Quran recitation, followed by national and Hezbollah anthems. The coffins will be transported in a special vehicle, and the ceremony will conclude with a speech by Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem before the procession moves to the burial site. With official delegations from 70 countries and thousands of participants from various political, religious, and resistance groups, the event marks a significant moment in Lebanon and the West Asia region. Airlines have increased flights to Beirut to accommodate the influx of attendees.

The Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces have implemented strict security measures, deploying 4,000 troops and 25,000 discipline squad members to manage the massive gathering. Additionally, 4,000 organizers are coordinating the event, with four field hospitals and over 70 ambulances stationed along the procession route. Nasrallah was assassinated in an Israeli airstrike on September 27, 2024, which destroyed six residential buildings in Dahiyeh using 85 tons of explosives. Safieddine was killed in a similar Israeli attack on October 3. Hezbollah postponed their funerals due to security concerns.
