Iran Confident in Peaceful Nuclear Program, Committed to Negotiations: FM

ALWAGHT- Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran has never abandoned negotiations, confident in the peaceful nature of its nuclear energy program.

Iran remains committed to nuclear negotiations, confident in the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Speaking in a televised interview, he emphasized Iran's willingness to engage in talks despite challenges posed by excessive demands from other parties. Araghchi highlighted the country's primary goal of resuming nuclear negotiations and described recent discussions with European signatories to the 2015 nuclear deal as positive, noting their seriousness and desire for resolution.

While welcoming dialogue, Araghchi echoed Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei's directive not to rely solely on negotiations. Instead, Iran aims to counteract unilateral sanctions imposed by the US and its allies through domestic capabilities. He stressed that Iran seeks dignified and honorable negotiations but will not depend entirely on this approach to address sanctions and other challenges.

Araghchi also reiterated Iran's stance on not negotiating with the US over the nuclear issue until it returns to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and clarifies its policy. He acknowledged the ongoing roles of Russia and China in the nuclear matter, despite tensions between Europe and Russia over the Ukraine crisis. These dynamics, along with other factors, were part of the recent discussions on the future of nuclear negotiations.
