ALWAGHT- High-ranking diplomats from Iran and India participated in a fresh round of political consultations held in New Delhi.
The 19th round of political consultations between Iran and India took place in New Delhi on January 3, co-chaired by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi and his Indian counterpart Vikram Misri. The discussions covered a wide range of bilateral issues, including cooperation on Chabahar Port development, trade, agriculture, cultural exchanges, and the North-South Corridor, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
Regional and global developments, such as the situation in Afghanistan and events in West Asia and the Caucasus, were also key topics of discussion. Takht Ravanchi emphasized India's strategic importance in Iran's foreign relations and reaffirmed Tehran's commitment to strengthening ties with New Delhi. Misri expressed India's readiness to collaborate with Iran in various sectors and highlighted the role of Chabahar Port in supporting Afghanistan's reconstruction and economic growth.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to enhancing cooperation in multilateral platforms like the United Nations, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In addition to the consultations, Takht Ravanchi met with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to address significant bilateral and regional issues.
During his two-day visit, the Iranian deputy foreign minister engaged with Indian media representatives and editors, delivering speeches at two influential think tanks shaping India's policy landscape. These engagements underscored the mutual interest in deepening diplomatic and strategic partnerships between the two nations.
