ALWAGHT- Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the establishment of an interim government in Bangladesh led by Muhammad Yunus.
In a statement on Saturday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani expressed hope for the full restoration of peace in Bangladesh, as desired by the people of the South Asian nation.
He also expressed optimism that a general parliamentary election would soon take place and a formal government would be established in Bangladesh.
Nobel Peace Prize-winning economist Muhammad Yunus has returned to Bangladesh to lead an interim government after weeks of student-led protests forced Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resign and flee to India.
Upon his arrival in Dhaka on August 8, the 84-year-old economist and head of the interim government described it as a "glorious day."
Yunus has been sworn in as the "chief adviser" to the caretaker government, with the responsibility of overseeing the democratic process leading to elections.
