ALWAGHT- According to the Syrian military, an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in Damascus, Syria, resulted in the death of one Syrian soldier and injuries to three others.
According to the state-run SANA news agency, the incident occurred after midnight on Sunday, targeting multiple military sites in the southern region and a residential building in the Kafr Sousa neighborhood of Damascus.
"Aerial aggression by the Israeli enemy originated from the direction of occupied Syrian Golan," stated a military source, noting that Syria's air defense systems intercepted some of the missiles launched.
Israeli army radio confirmed the attack, describing Israel's military action as a "missile barrage" against a building in Damascus. The Israeli military justified this response as a reaction to two drones intercepted north of the Israeli port city of Eilat a day earlier, reportedly originating from Syrian territory.
Israeli airstrikes on Syria have escalated since the start of the Gaza conflict last October, frequently launched from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, as reported by Reuters, where the most recent attack originated.
