What’s Behind Attack on Iran’s Shah Cheragh Shrine?

One Killed, Eight Injured in Terrorist Attack at Iran’s Shah Cheragh Shrine

Alwaght- Terrorists once again carried out a blind and cowardly attack on the holy shrine of Shah Cheragh in Iranian city of Shiraz, killing one and injuring a number of others.

Fars province’s chief prosecutor said that the armed man who opened fire in the shrine and was immediately arrested is now under prosecution. Kazem Mousavi further said that so far 10 were arrested by the province's security forces in connection to the deadly attack and the operations are ongoing to find other perpetrators.

On October 26 last year, a armed terrorist attacked Shah Cheragh and killed 15 of innocent worshipers in an apparent crime. Like last year, this time, too, ISIS terrorist group claimed responsibly for the attack.

Puzzle pieces of a big conspiracy

This terrorist attack occurred as a wave of terrorist attacks by ISIS in Syria, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan has intensified in the past months, setting off the alarm bells about re-rise of this hellish terrorist group. Syrian government and Iraqi resistance groups have repeatedly warned that there is an American and Israeli-hatched plot to revive ISIS.

This plot, which is part of the main project of slowing down the decline of American hegemony by fomenting chaos and instability in the security environment of the main rivals of the US like China, Russia and Iran and to involve them in regional geopolitical crises, has been pursued more seriously in Afghanistan and Syria, and North African countries that are prone to ISIS penetration.

Two years have gone since the US disgracefully and scandalously withdrew from Afghanistan, and during these two years, the West adopted a policy of sanctions and pressures on new Afghanistani rulers, practically paving the way for expansion of domain of activity of ISIS in this country and neighboring countries like Pakistan those in Central Asia.

For China, which is the key rival of the US in the new century, Afghanistan with its geopolitical position is very important as the gateway to Central Asia both for Beijing's economic projects in foreign trade, especially the Belt and Road Initiative, and for its security interests in preventing the growth of terrorism in its eastern Muslim-majority province of Xinjiang.

Russia and Iran also have similar concerns regarding the power gain of ISIS in Afghanistan and Syria and its spread to other regions, especially Central Asia. Iran, having more than 900 kilometers of common borders with Afghanistan and hundreds of kilometers of common borders with Central Asian countries and also Iraq, has been one of the top targets of this American menace.

In the meantime, given the capabilities of Iranian intelligence apparatus and security and military forces to detect and foil terrorist actions and also given Iran's old and rich civilization and a long history of peaceful coexistence of various ethnic and religious groups, Iran has never been a breeding ground for takfiri thought and ethno-sectarianism tendencies. This means that the trivial successes of terrorist groups inside the Iranian borders are certainly designed outside the borders and backed by intelligence and funding of Western and Israeli intelligence agencies.

The cooperation of the Iran-led Axis of Resistance with Russia in Syria and Iraq yielded the best performance of anti-terrorism fight in the past years, and definitely tying down Russia in Ukraine and fueling riots and insecurity in Iran are American plans to prepare the ground for ISIS re-emergence in Syria and then Iraq.

Meanwhile, the UN failure to quickly condemn the attack once again demonstrated the Western double standards and depth of the dependence of the international human rights on the the global Western policies and highlighted the need for regional cooperation to block revival of terrorism and instability.

Overshadowing the huge Arbaeen march and congregation

Shiraz terrorist attack comes as not long is left to start of the Arbaeen congregation, a ceremony that astonishes the world by making the biggest annual religious human gathering.

Arbaeen is increasingly becoming the main symbol of growth of the resistance discourse in the region and every year its magnificence grows larger and larger as more lovers of Imam Hussein, the third Shiite Imam and the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, including non-Muslims from various countries join the congregation. This annual commemoration ceremony is becoming a thorn in the side of enemies of Muslim unity, namely the Israeli regime and the US, as well their regional minions. ISIS terrorists as Washington and Tel Aviv infantries take actions to plant fear in the heart of the pilgrims.

Given the fact that ISIS terrorists during years of their presence in Syria and while operating near the Israeli borders did not launch even a single attack on the Israeli regime and did not threaten the American interests in the region, proving their collusion with Washington and Tel Aviv does not even require document collection.
