Hamas Hails Iran’s Support for Palestinian People

Hamas Hails Iran’s Support for Palestinian People

Alwaght- Ismail Haniyeh, chairman of the political bureau of the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement has thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for supporting the Palestinian people and resistance groups.

In a phone call with Iran’s new foreign minister, Ismail Haniyeh congratulated Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on his appointment to the post and voiced his gratitude for Iran’s support for the Palestinian cause.

For his part, the Iranian foreign minister hailed the Palestinian men and women’s resistance against the occupying regime in Tel Aviv, in particular their resistance during the regime’s relentless bombardment of the Gaza Strip in the 11-day war in May.

He underscored resistance as the only option available to the Palestinian people to liberate their occupied land.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, as in the past, supports the Palestinian people’s struggle for liberation [of all territories] and the formation of an independent Palestinian state across the historic [Palestinian] territory with al-Quds as the capital,” Amir-Abdollahian remarked.

He also denounced continuous atrocities committed by Israel against Palestinian women and children and expressed Tehran’s support for the political solution of holding a referendum to decide the fate of the true inhabitants of Palestine.

Iran has been a staunch advocate of the Palestinian people’s rights since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in the country in 1979.

Following Israel’s 11-day war on Gaza, which was faced with a powerful response from Palestinian resistance groups in the besieged enclave, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei congratulated the “courageous Palestinian people” for their historic victory against the Zionist regime.

In response, the Gaza-based Palestinian groups, including Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, appreciated Iran’s support and also congratulated Ayatollah Khamenei on their great victory.
