Deputy Chairman of The Republican People’s Party (CHP), Unal Cevikoz, said Erdogan should cooperate with Syria in order to combat terrorism, as this was a major stipulation in Adana Agreement, Turkish Minute news website reported.
The Adana Agreement, signed by Turkey and Syria on Oct. 20, 1998, stipulates coordination between Syria and Turkey in counterterrorism.
Cevikoz added that working with Syria to fight terrorism is a necessity based on the principle of reciprocity.
The agreement surfaced in the news after Putin brought it up in talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
