ALWAGHT- Millions of mourners filled the streets of Tehran on Monday for the final national funeral procession honoring the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Iranian authorities described it as the largest public gathering in the country's modern history, with people from across the nation paying their final respects in a powerful display of mourning and unity.
Monday's funeral procession in Tehran marked the culmination of several days of national mourning for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Millions of mourners accompanied his flag-draped coffin and those of four family members killed in the February 28 US-Israeli strikes, while senior Iranian officials joined the public in a massive display of grief, unity, and support for the path of Resistance.
The ceremonies were preceded by packed funeral prayers at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Mosalla, led by Grand Ayatollah Ja’afar Sobhani, where mourners also honored the Leader's martyred family members. Throughout the events, crowds carried red banners and chanted slogans calling for justice and retribution, linking the Leader's martyrdom to the Shia tradition of resistance symbolized by Imam Hussein.
The funeral ceremonies also underscored Iran's institutional continuity and international support, with numerous foreign leaders and delegations attending official events in Tehran. Following the capital's procession, the funeral cortège is scheduled to continue to Qom, Iraq's holy cities of Najaf and Karbala, before concluding with the Leader's burial at the Imam Reza (AS) shrine in Mashhad.
