Alwaght - Turkish
National Intelligence Organization (MİT) forewarned that ISIS may conduct
terrorist attacks inside Turkey
The MİT issued
a warning for the country’s foreign ministry, police, and security forces that
the ISIS terrorists, who have retreated from Syria’s border regions, are trying
to cross into Turkey, and may be planning to conduct attacks inside Turkey.
The warning
issue stated that ISIS militants could be working on armed or bombing attacks in
the Turkish cities.
Also, the
Turkish-language Sözcü newspaper wrote that the ISIS terrorists attempted to enter
Turkey from Syria's Reqqa province on July 15 and carry out their terrorist
acts in Qaziantep and Hatay cities in Turkey.
The warning by
the MiT comes as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan admitted in early July
that Ankara has directly supported terrorists in Syria.
"If it
were not due to the support of Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar for the militants
in Syria, they could not have achieved anything," Erdogan said on July 5.
Erdogan noted
that Ankara, Riyadh, and Doha have supplied military and logistical backup for
the terrorists in Syria.
Erdogan's statements
came as his Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu denied any cooperation between
Turkey and Saudi regime in supporting the terrorists in Syria.
Last month it
has been reported that 12,000 Turkish forces are ready for military
intervention in Syria under the pretext of creating a buffer zone to protect
the Turkish borders against the threat of the foreign-backed terrorist groups.
